Favsies Friday & a better face.

So I have SLIGHTLY recovered from my Norman Reedus news. It's been a hard week, but with the help of Sheena & knowing that the season finale of The Walking Dead is Sunday, we can all make it through this tragedy together. And I am always taking suggestions for the NERD-perfect shirt.

Ok lovelies! Ready for my personal Favsies Friday?  I will be chatting it up about basic (mostly inexpensive) skincare & with just a couple tweeks to your routine, the perfect skin is so much closer!  Frankly, it's much easier than dropping that last couple lbs for bikini season.

Firstly, a Dove bar.  GET ONE!  My dermatologist turned me on to this secret many years ago.  It's so gentle, it clears acne, & it pH balances your face.  Remember loves, washing your face morning & night makes a huge difference when it comes to aging.  Our skin needs to recover from all the crap we throw at it all day.   It's great for any skin type, especially sensitive!   Don't get me wrong, you will still want to exfoliate a couple times a week to clear the dead skin.   My exfoliation fave is the Clarisonic (game changer & will be a future post).

Quick tip: Use a clean washcloth to dry your face.  I buy white ones by the dozen. They are easy to bleach when they get dirty and easy to toss when they get grungy.

If you get the occasional or even frequent breakout, pick up a sulfur based product.  Kate Somerville's EradiKate is a great topical treatment that will help dry out blemishes & most of the time they're gone the next day.

Do: put it on at night so it can work while you sleep.

Don't: put this on before your makeup. Your makeup will pool in the area of the blemish and will make the blemish more noticeable.  You can pick this up at Sephora for around $20:)

I picked up this sulfur cleansing mask from Walmart for under $10.  It's perfect for the larger breakout areas & also works quickly without having to leave it on all night.

Do: use this if you have a large amount of acne & or combo skin.
Don't: use this for longer than 10 minutes.
Quick tip: wash your pillowcase often to reduce breakout.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is currently my go-to for most skin issues including dry, flakey, red, acne, and pretty much whatever you can think of.  Colloidal Oatmeal is the key ingredient that calms and soothes the skin and replenishes the moisture. It is also a great solution for eczema!  Get all your issues solved for around $13 at Sephora.

Do: use this if you want clearer, smoother, acne free skin.
Don't: use this if you hate great skin.

Sunscreen.  Yes, they wrote a song about it & your mamma nags you about it.  Ever heard of a little word called hyper-pigmentation?  Meaning those dark spots that are overwhelming your face & take a ton of work to fix.  They can be prevented for next to nothing with a good sunscreen.   Save yourself tons of money and protect your skin now!  (We will talk spot correction later).

I adore Neutrogena anything over SPF 50.  I'm a sucker for anything that is for anti-aging.  This guy is around $10 at your local Target.

Target Tees (say that 5x's fast)

Have you eve gone to someones house and it was super clean and decorated perfectly AND they have kids? That happened last night. I went to my monthly BUNCO night and my friend's house made me want to burn mine down and start all over.  Now don't get me wrong.. I am totally blessed with what I have. But times are a changing folks and I'm sick of my once "crepe" colored walls that are now a smoker yellow. No one smokes at my house! What the heck?! Seriously I am tired of the warm tones. Bring on the cool and clean! Anyway, I am hosting next month so now I have to get my rear in gear! This only includes:
*Re-painting my whole house
*Painting our kitchen cupboards
*Planking our wall
*Putting a brick wall in our kitchen
That's all totally doable right?! In one month? Sigh…..Bring on the pink rockstars I suppose. And a tree that grows money. Actually a tree that hands it out would be better..who has time for picking? How about just direct deposit please.

Today I wanted to talk about the perfect plain Tee.
Sometimes you just need a comfy yet stylish tee that you can either dress up, or dress down. A dependable tee. One that has your back whether you've got a hot date, an interview, or  one that won't judge as you realize that you are going to bed in the same thing you woke up in. This shirt fits all those needs and is normally on sale for $5 in stores at Target. Dead. Serious. You guys I promise you can't go wrong with this Tee. They are made by Mossimo and feel and fit like a dream. They are 60% Cotton and 40% Polyester so you can totally toss them in the dryer and not have to deal with shrinkage. This is a seller for me because I literally hang dry almost every shirt I own.

You choice of colors online aren't great. However, in store there are more available options. The one I am wearing here is a salmon color. When I checked this weekend they had gray, salmon, black, white, jade, and a few different striped options.

A few ways to wear:

*Pair them with jeans and pumps (like I did here)
*Your favorite blazer over your favorite tee
*With pajama bottoms… duh
*Worn tucked into a pencil skirt with a thick belt
*Paired with a maxi skirt

Gladiators

First off, thank you to all who participated in our first giveaway! Congrats to our winner and we hope you have an amazing date with yo man ;)

So we had a MAJOR melt down this weekend…
Norman Reedus has cancelled! I repeat:

NORMAN FREAKIN REEDUS HAS CANCELLED SLC COMICON.

For those of you who are scratching your head right now, he is the very delicious Daryl on The Walking Dead television series. It is the only reason we were planning on attending with the other characters being a bonus. It seriously was going to be amazing watching Jamie losing her cool while drooling as he stood in front of her. . Seriously. People may not know anything about her but they all seem to know of her love for NR. And that's it ha ha...They better make it up to us by replacing him with Justin Timberlake. There really is no other option.
-sad face emoji, sad face emoji, no kissy face emoji for Jamie
In the meantime.. Maybe THIS will ease the pain.

Anyway..
They came! They are more glorious that I could of imagined! I just want to run down the street and yell something crazy looking barbaric! No seriously you guys… I L-O-V-E them. Meaning my Gladiators of course! I ended up going with these faux leather cut out gladiators by Breckelles. At $27 shipped I am 100% happy with this purchase. Remember THESE boots I posted about on our first Favsie Friday? They are by Breckelles so I TOTALLY trusted that even at this low price they would be fantastic quality. I was right! YES!

Aren't they amazing? And they aren't uncomfortable either! I've been thinking about how to style them without wearing short skirts or shorts. They are darling when paired with those but that is not an option for me. I'm not sure how these would look with Bermuda shorts :/ ... I'll get back to you on that. So for now I figured bohemian style skirts and dresses, high-low dresses, and..... skinnies. Yes, skinnies. I stumbled up this by accident and it totally worked. It might not with every style of gladiators but it definitely did with these!

There ya have it babes! Conclusion is, I'm in love. I'm going to find ways to rock these all summer and maybe even buy another color!

P.S. I'm SO happy with them, I got in an abandoned grocery cart and laughed about it... Seriously you guys I wanted to take this cart home. Someone spray painted it half gold and when I saw it we had instant chemistry. Instant. So I jumped in and captured the moment so I could always remember how happy I was about my new shoes and and a gold grocery cart.
The End :)

Favsies Friday & A Giveaway!

Hey babes! Guess what? It's Favsies Friday! Part deuce!  Today is all about a favorite date night and boy do we have some sweetness for you and your honey buns!
So how many of you have about this  [ ]  much time for dates? I know for me between …
-waiting for the hubs to get home from work so I can leave my army of destruction for one minute to get all fancy
-and the babysitting meeter that ticks away each minute we are gone
I sometimes need a speed date. And I have the perfect place to have one! With one man though..minus the other 47 that are on speed dates. What do we do you ask?  Well just have yourself a seat honey and let me tell you all about the Movie Grille!

The Movie Grille is a hot spot located downtown Ogden, Utah right by cozy little historic 25th St.
It is a movie theater / restaurant. You can either go enjoy their food in a traditional restaurant fashion or you can go eat AND enjoy a movie at the same time. Thats right friends.. What would normally take you about four hours, you can accomplish in about two!
Lets talk food. I honestly thought that in an establishment like this I would be trying to watch a movie while some lady with a menu would be distracting and and the food would be greasy pizza and a sub par burger. That couldn't be further from the truth. I barely even noticed the waitress And. You. Guys… They even do presentation with their food on their cute white rectangular plates! It was gourmet. I had the Balsamic Chicken Sandwich and It blew my mind. Seriously. I love that freakin sandwich! Their prices are very reasonable allowing you to also take the whole fam in for lunch and a movie should you choose. We have. It was awesome.

The Movie Grille is so awesome that they have decided to giveaway two pairs of movie tickets to our followers!

Spring Steals

I joined up with www.sassysteals.com to photograph their newest items for spring.  The Aztec-Egyptian pencil is the perfect skirt for our off & on warm weather.  I know we are all loving the maxi-skirt, but have you tried the pencil skirt in the same fabric?   It's THE most comfortable thing next to the maxi, but looks a smidge dressier.  Love.  Love.  Love.  Whitney added an Express top & the jacket is from JCPenney.
And guess what?  The skirt just went on sale in 3 colors,  HERE!

Next up-one of my faves!  It's the Amelia Hi-lo belted dress.  Any excuse to where leggings and I'm in heaven.  This cute fabric lays perfectly so its always flattering & I'm dying over the black and gold belt.  Whitney's cute boots are  JCPenney  & added a Charming Charlie's gold necklace.
The Sephora girl in me is in love with her bright red lips.  No, this trend is not going away anytime soon.  So buck up, go in, and find your perfect shade of bold lipstick.
**Recommendation alert- Try Bite.  You can't go wrong, especially if your lips are dry & cracked.  Just try it.

That One Time I Bought Overalls In 2014

So I bought some overalls. I saw Sadie wearing them over on Simply Sadie Jane
and I thought to myself.... I want to buy some overalls. I haven't had that thought since I was in junior high. It was a confusing moment for me. But for those of you that know me, know that I'm a risk taker when it comes to fashion. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Im totally A-OK with that.
Anyway.. I went to Rue 21 (one of my go to shops, I'll post on that later) with my 25% off coupon and I bought me some skinny overalls y'all.
I put them on and showed the hubby..... It took a good 30 seconds before he said "are those really making a comeback?" And that was followed by a few mumbles and "I don't knows". Says the boy who hasn't worn them since he was like 4 so what does he know anyway. Right?
So guess what? I looked at myself in the mirror and I wasn't offended! I kind of love them! So my vote is.. If you feel good in them, rock 'em! There are a few different ways to style them and this was my fave.

I chose to rock mine with plain white tank, a crop tee, and black wedges. You can wear them with both straps up, one strap down, or all down. Sounds like a line dance ;)
I honestly was blindsided by these. I love this style and I am so excited to roll with it. What do you think? Should they all be burned along with our other junior high/ high school disasters? Or is it time we rid them of their ugly reputation?

There are a few different options we are testing at the moment at are super excited for what's to come! We will learn through trial and error and are sure to have bumps and bruises along the way, but that isn't going to stop us from getting back on the horse! So, with that is mind, we hope are you ready to ride or die with us kind folk.

We wanted for you to get to know us a little better so we are listing a few of our favorite things as of right now and introducing our very own "Favsies Friday":
*links to products are above pictures*

Sheena's Favsies

1. First up is POREfessional. You know how you wish you could look younger? DONE. I have royally screwed up my pores from being terrible about washing my face at night. Let that be a lessen to you kids…wash your dirt. Basically what happens is, you put this on as a primer and it makes your face look like a baby's butt. A. Baby's. Butt. It minimizes pores and fine lines AND IT WORKS.

2. Lock-it Tattoo Foundation by Kat Von D is fa-freakin-tastic. It literally gives you a blank canvas to apply your make-up. I've never had coverage this amazing! You can literally cover a tattoo with this! So for all my homies back in cell block C with the teardrops..you're welcome.

3. Big Sexy Dry Shampoo is my partner in crime. She covers up all my lies about when was the last time I washed my hair. What I like about this specific dry shampoo is that it doesn't lave a white film and I can still get a brush through my hair after I use it. It also feel a lot lighter compared to the other products I have tried. For the love friends..PLEASE stay away from the dry shampoo powders. AND!!!! It is on Sale at ULTA right now for $9.99!

4. The Originals is a spin off from The Vampire Diaries. I. LOVE. THIS .SHOW. It has all the eye candy and fan girl moments that The Vampire Diaries had when it first started. There is nothing like a good bad boy and this show has a few that you love to hate. One day…I'm going to merry Marcel's teeth. Don't judge.

5. Listen… sometimes us Mormon girls need to feel fancy too. You guys!! This is seriously such a fun drink! All you need is a fancy glass, sparkling water, your Crystal Like Liquid of choice, and some frozen fruit. DONE. Now put the kids to bed, curl up with a book, your favorite show, and give yourself some momma time. That's right… M to the E time. It exists. I promise. It's located sometime within the hours of 10pm-5am.

BONUS- These Outlaw Riding Boots by Breckelles are too good to be true! They are super comfy and come in tons of different colors! The best part is.. you can get them for as low as $26 shipped! I have them in Taupe and get compliments on them all the time! Mine were $34 shipped. Any riding boot under $40 is a steal to me! Go check them out on Amazon and see if they have your size and color. HURRY! Options are getting limited.

Running

2. This is my release.  I am up for my 3rd Ogden Half in May.  The thing I'm currently on the hunt for is a great outfit!  What are your favorite running shoes?  Mine- Nike Freeruns!

3. What do I love about Smart Water? The electrolytes of course! It seriously is the best bottled water there is.

4. HD Foundation by MUFE is super light with great coverage that creates an amazing blank canvas. It's just a great everyday use foundation. Check it.

5. Bite lipgloss is highly pigmented and amazingly enough.. FDA certified. Yes, you can literally eat this lipgloss. But don't. That's weird.
Anywho..  :)
It's also long wearing and contains Vitemin E that leaves your lips feeling silky smooth. AND it's not sticky! BONUS
